Long Distance Consulting

Occasionally (if we feel we can meet the needs of the child and have a behavior analyst available) we will offer long distance consulting.  These services are not recommended for best practices of ABA, however, in some situations parents do not have access to Certified Behavior Analysts and we may be able to help support a program they will fully implement. Parents may implement the program themselves or hire trainers to work with their child.  A typical program should consist of 30-40 hours per week of ABA. This may vary based on recommendations from BCBA.  Either party can cancel with 30 days notice for any reason. The family must send in a video tape of the child and follow the same requirements as Day Learning Clients. Prior to agreeing to conduct services TSOB may require an in person visit with the child.

Start-up Services:
This is based on a 2 Day start up, however, the format may need to be varied depending upon the needs of the child. These services are offered during the week Monday thru Friday from 9-3 based upon availability by TSOB and must be coordinated in advance.

Day One:
The Shape Of Behavior takes time initially to get to know the child, establish a reinforcing relationship, and conduct the initial assessment prior to working and training the family.  Typically this will require the child to attend the Day Learning program at TSOB for 1 full day 9-3pm.  If The Shape Of Behavior feels one day is not adequate to get to know the child or complete a full assessment, more time will be requested at an additional charge.

*If there are many compliance problems, The Shape Of Behavior reserves the right to require a Functional Analysis, which can take several days to conduct and has an additional associated cost.

Day Two:
Following the agreed upon time to establish a rapport with the child, The Shape Of Behavior will conduct an initial Workshop, development of individualized programs, and hands-on training. The Second Day, The family and trainers will be in a workshop while the child works attends Day Learning.  This workshop is design to review the basic principles of ABA.  This format may vary depending upon the needs of the child.

*TSOB may require additional workshops or follow up workshops on behavior, reinforcement, and or mainstreaming depending upon the needs of the child and have an additional cost.  After the workshop and development of a program, the consultant will review the ABLLS assessment, developed data sheet, and start hands on training with the family and the child.

Monthly Consults:
The family is required to travel to The Shape Of Behavior in Houston, Texas at the designated location.

This visit must be preceded with:
1. a recently videotaped session of ABA therapy demonstrating both NET and DTT  (30-45 minutes)
2. updated graphs and copies of the last months data sheets.  We will keep these materials and ask that you make a copy for your own records.
3. Updated behavior charts, language samples, and any other required data sheets.

The consultant will review your graphs and video for program updates and suggestions.
This will be followed by a visit, where you will have hands on training for approx. 3 hours.

The child may be requested to attend Day Learning prior to meeting with the family for hands on training.
